Human Fish Brewery
Human Fish is Slovenia’s first proper craft brewery, based in the town of Slovenj Gradec in the far north of the country, and there are three different kinds: pale ale, red ale and oatmeal stout. Cheekily named after a small blind amphibious creature indigenous to Slovenia’s Karst caves, the brewery was started in 2008 by a resident Australian who decided to settle in Slovenia after years of living in more exotic locales. A small cave salamander, because of its human-like skin tone also known as Human Fish, has broken the world’s record for longest-lived amphibian. The salamander, also called olm and Proteus Anguinus, has a maximum lifespan of over 100 years, concludes the new study, published in the latest Royal Society Biology Letters.
